Real Estate Fundamentals:
Title Insurance Claims
(an ATG Legal Ed OnDemand program)

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

The claims experience of the title insurance industry has always been a concern to title insurance companies and title insurance agents. How do title insurance claims arise? How can ATG members avoid claims on the policies they write? How can ATG members identify title problems and avoid loss to their clients, themselves, and ATG? The speakers will answer these questions and provide in-depth analysis and discussion of case studies of actual ATG claims. Topics include the following:

How Title Insurers Process Claims
  • Claims notice;
  • Investigation and resolution of claims; and
  • ATG Regulation 9 requirements.
Claims Case Studies
  • Taxes and special assessments;
  • Surveys, legal descriptions, and access;
  • Closings; and
  • Documents in the chain of title.
Given the increasing complexity of real estate title examination and the ever-changing nature of the law, all ATG members, their staff, and closers, will benefit from this program.
