PROGRAM SUMMARY:

An important decision for any buyer of commercial and investment real estate is the method by which the buyer will take title to the property. This program will focus on common methods of taking title to commercial and investment real estate, including corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies, with an emphasis on Illinois' newest type of business organization — series LLCs. This program includes a discussion of the following:
  • General overview of the various methods of taking title to commercial and investment real estate
  • Organization of various business entities:
      – Statutory authority
      – Pros and cons
      – Forms used to organize an LLC and series LLC
  • Title issues involved in underwriting business entities
